AT A GLANCE
What happens when you bring together young people from six countries, different realities, and vastly different life pathsâbut a shared hunger for connection, meaning, and change? Magic. And thatâs exactly what the Re-Act-led project âI Am You. Other Life Scenariosâ proved.
Over the course of an eye-opening and heart-warming exchange in the town of Tsarevo, Bulgaria, 31 young people from Bulgaria, Spain, Italy, Serbia, Estonia, and North Macedonia embarked on a bold and transformative journey. Together, they explored the often invisible forces of migration, marginalization, and inclusion: not just from the news, but from personal experience, deep discussion, and honest storytelling.
“I never thought my story matteredâuntil someone from another country said it gave them courage.” â Participant from Bulgaria
This project was no ordinary youth exchange. Built on the Action Research Cycle (ARC), the program challenged participants to identify real social problems, gather insights, plan action, and reflectâall while co-creating a safe space rooted in empathy, intercultural dialogue, and raw authenticity. Whether learning to listen across language barriers, exploring refugee experiences, or building solidarity through outdoor activities and local engagement, these young people didnât just talk about values like democracy, respect, and diversityâthey lived them.
Key Highlights:
-
Explored the hidden dimensions of migration and social exclusion across Europe
-
Empowered marginalized youth with fewer opportunities through hands-on learning
-
Built long-term friendships and international solidarity teams ready to spark change
-
Delivered daily learning reflections using creative Youthpass tools and mentoring
-
Engaged local communities in awareness-raising and multicultural understanding
With a rich mix of peer-to-peer learning, storytelling, and cultural exchange, âI Am Youâ became a springboard for personal growth, empowerment, and active citizenship.
Re-Act is proud to lead programs like this that prove again and againâwhen young people feel seen, heard, and empowered, they can and will create the Europe they want to live in.
Until next time, keep your heart open and your actions loud. Weâre all one story, told through many lives. Because I am YOU.
