Professional Skills “How-To”

Our How-To Professional Skills project aims at supporting young people throughout the process of job searching. It started in the spring of 2013 and is being financed in accordance with the Youth In Action Programme initiated by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Science. By means of free trainings young people aged 15 – 29 are getting acquainted with the major trends while looking and applying for a job. They will be given practical advice on how to compose their CV and cover letters, how to present themselves while interviewed for a job and also legal information related to the labour market. These trainings are going to be conducted in five cities in the Western parts of Bulgaria; this is the region mostly affected by youth unemployment.
A meeting with employers and NGOs is planned to be held towards the end of the project where young people will be presented with the job opportunities and possible vocational trainings at state institutions, NGOs and private companies. The event is going to take place on 18 May at “St. Kliment Ohridski” Sofia University.

According to the data published by the National Statistics Office the number of the unemployed aged 15-29 hit 29.1% in February. This comes to prove that youth unemployment is among the greatest social and economic issue in Bulgaria.
We believe that through the encouragement of personal development, economic entice and entrepreneurship awareness, the negative consequences stirring from youth unemployment and social exclusion will be reduced, which is the effect we expect from this project.
