AT A GLANCE
The project focuses on the mental health of young people. In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic in particular, the number of young people suffering from mental illness has risen. The project aims to promote the mental health of young people and encourage them to deal with their own needs in a more self-determined way. The goal is to strengthen young people’s activism so that they learn to draw attention to their own needs and create an environment in which they feel safe, valued, and accepted. Metaphor will use tools from the fields of film and multimedia. These are now among the most common and powerful means of communication in our society and are ideally suited for the broadest possible transnational dissemination of the project results. The individual progress and results of the project should strengthen the self-confidence and self-esteem of young people and encourage them to actively contribute to changes in their communities.
PROJECT GOALS
- Mental health and wellbeing: to achieve that young people’s voices and needs about mental health will be heard in their local community and transnationally, using multimedia and film making, as well as local and transnational events.
- Youth activism and advocacy: to achieve that young people participate in society and campaign for changes in order to tailor their communities according to their needs. To achieve progress on more accessible psychological support, depending on the needs, for example a publicly funded psychological support in rural areas.
- Multimedia and filmmaking: as mentioned above, multimedia and filmmaking are the main tools of communication and we want to achieve that young people gain competences of creating multimedia content which will give them a powerful tool for further campaigning, participation locally, as well as transnationally.
- Transnational cooperation: to achieve the connection of young people from four different countries, to achieve their cooperation on the topic that is important to them, and to create a foundation to achieve transnational initiatives during the project lifetime and in the future.
